Jan-Jelle Kester

Trainer/consultant

As a young child, I was always curious about how things work – and that interest has always remained. And how beautiful it is when you can also help with complex issues by creating the solution yourself! Due to this interest, I look into how the technology I use works behind the scenes, which often yields new insights. Within the field of software engineering, my interest lies in creating understandable, well-structured code. Additionally, I always look for patterns to make software more robust, to reduce the chance of errors in the future.

During my studies in Technical Informatics at the University of Twente, I became acquainted with teaching through the minor in teacher training, and I liked it so much that I never stopped teaching alongside my other activities. One of the most enjoyable aspects of teaching is finding the connection with the students’ level of knowledge and then gradually expanding their knowledge from. It also gives me a lot of satisfaction to truly help people understand a subject so that they can reason about it themselves, and therefore continue learning on their own after a training.

At Info Support, in addition to my work as a consultant and teacher, I am also involved in the Research Center and regularly supervise students in their graduation research. Besides my work in IT, I also enjoy volunteering at a small theater as a light and sound technician.
