Amy van Bijsterveldt

Trainer/consultant

My name is Amy van Bijsterveldt, and I have been working at Info Support since 2021 as a data engineer and also as a consultant-teacher at the Knowledge Center.

My background is in Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence. Why this combination? Because understanding how our brains work is a crucial topic in the development of (advanced) intelligent systems. For example, if AI were to be used for teaching, it’s handy to first understand how people most effectively absorb new information.

Data also plays an important role in this process. Data needs to be reliable, representative, and accurate; something that may sound easier than it actually is. As a data engineer, I am involved in making the right data available in the right places so that data scientists and data analysts can turn it into “information” in the form of reports and models.

I find the key role that the data engineer plays in the entire chain – from producing data to presenting it – extremely interesting. That’s why I mainly give trainings in the field of data. I also regularly attend conferences, sometimes as a speaker.

In my free time, you’ll often find me behind the piano, and I enjoy playing (video) games. I also like to take long walks in nature, together with my partner Julian and our dog Simba.
